About me
I love everything about books -- writing, editing, reading and discussing them! I have notebooks full of ideas and a bookcase overflowing with books. I enjoy visiting schools, libraries and bookshops and sharing my passion for stories. As a senior commissioning editor for Working Partners, a London-based company creating series fiction for children, I worked on twelve different series and edited nearly 100 books. I write books for children and teens.
My new series Chasing Danger is an action-adventure series for tweens. Dark Parties, my first young adult novel, won the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Crystal Kite Award for Europe. My next teen novel – Half Lives – is a story told in two voices from a pre- and post-apocalyptic time. I also write a funny magical series for young readers, titled Magic Trix.
I have given writing workshops to teens and adults in the US, UK and Europe. I am part of Book Bound -- a group of editors and writers who offer a variety of events for writers who aspire to write fiction for children and teens. I am also an associate lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London, teaching its master's module on writing for children and teens.
I was the co-creator and am the co-editor of the SCBWI-BI Undiscovered Voices anthology. Through this project I've helped 37 writers and illustrators achieve their dreams of being published.
I was born and raised in Washington, Indiana, a small town in the Midwestern United States. I graduated from Indiana University with degrees in journalism and psychology, and later I earned a master's degree in creative and life writing at Goldsmiths College, University of London. I live in London and write full-time.
